Drunk Driver Indicted Regarding Car Accident Death

The grand jury in Carroll County indicted a man who allegedly drove while intoxicated causing a vehicle accident that killed another man. The indicted man apparently overcorrected his vehicle, crossed into another lane, and hit another vehicle. Both cars flipped and the indicted man's vehicle landed on top. The other driver died at the scene. Charges are for murder, criminal mischief and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

Melvin Randall Snow, 53, of Ghent, was indicted on charges of murder, criminal mischief and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

Last month, Snow was on U.S. 42 heading to his home at 1170 Sharon Road when he drove his Ford 250 truck onto a portion of the road that had uneven pavement. While driving on the uneven pavement, Snow hit two orange barrels, overcorrected his vehicle and traveled into the westbound lane where Hector Garcia Arteaga, 31, of Carrollton was driving, the police report said.

Snow's vehicle slid across Arteaga's silver 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, causing both vehicles to flip. Snow's vehicle landed on a top of Arteaga's car. Both vehicles stopped on the north side of a culvert, near Growers Tobacco Warehouse in Carrollton.
